Our youngest and most vulnerable tamariki have their own little home and playground adjacent to the older tamariki. Our Penguin Room teaching team is made up of informed, skilful adults who bring their wisdom and knowledge of infant and toddler pedagogy into a beautiful, low-stress, rich, responsive, and relationship-based environment where they are cared for in ways that make them feel protected, safe, and secure. 

Our Tohorā room is a vibrant, busy space for tamariki aged between 2 and 4 years. Here our tamariki are provided with exciting experiences and resources in a safe environment allowing them to explore and learn through play whilst scaffolded by experienced, qualified teachers who focus on the holistic development of the whole child, including language and social and emotional skills.  

The Studio provides a learning-rich environment for tamariki over the age of 4 years. Our tamariki continue to be supported in their holistic development, as in the Tohorā room, but with an increased focus on self-confidence as they prepare to go to school.  In the studio, our tamariki are extended through the Maori concept of “Tuakana-Teina” relationships. The tuakana-teina relationship is where an older or more expert tuakana (brother, sister, friend) helps and guides a younger or less expert teina (originally a younger sibling/friend) and where reciprocal learning is valued.   See More

Our Tohora and Studio tamariki share our well-resourced outdoor environment throughout the day. Here they get to explore using their whole body and have plenty of opportunities to run, climb, build, and play with water and sand.
